Personal Philosophy
I believe very strongly in the idea that music, drama, and dance is for everyone, because they have a great deal to teach us about ourselves, learning, and love. We are born with rhythm beating in our very own hearts; without this pulse we would not be alive. As a matter of fact, our every act of breathing is an act which sustains our body & rhythm. Therefore, the origin of music and dance is in us already, because we definitely have hearts, veins, blood and bones. We then need the means to begin a process of getting the music or dance out. My passion is an extremely strong part of me and I cannot help but want to share my passion with others. We all have something to say, and I believe this idea applies as much to dancing as our native tongue. The beauty of dance as a language is that it transcends all linguistic barriers; it is truly a universal languages. It speaks with emotional rather than intellectual intelligence. It says what we cannot describe with words. As a director, I share my love of music and dance with my performers, prepare plans, evaluate and assess progress, develop skills, and most importantly add fascination and fun to their learning by holding workshops & seminars when available. I believe my job as a director is to educate my performers into well-rounded individuals with a knowledge and understanding of a variety of musical theatre genres and concepts that may enhance as well as develop them into great performers with a highly productive and successful future in the world of performing arts. Not only is it important that I keep current with styles and techniques for my performers, but equally important that I maintain my own knowledge by attending seminars and workshops to develop personally as well as professionally. It is a vital part of what I do to share the joys of musical theatre with younger generations and influence them to enjoy this as much as I do. EDUCATION
